Scarcely had the AS4 changeover been completed for electricity market communications than the next changeover came due: according to a decision of the Federal Network Agency (BK7-19-001 of 22 November 2023), the use of the AS4 protocol will also be mandatory for gas market communications from 1 April 2025. The AS4 process now also replaces previous procedures via mail and AS2 and marks a further significant step towards secure and efficient market communication.
